Web Services Information

Course pages

bCourses
bCourses is Berkeley's official campus Learning Management System (LMS). This web-based tool provides a resource for instructors and students to enrich the teaching and learning experience. Instructors can create new or upload existing course materials and build graded activities within bCourses, while also using it to communicate with and provide feedback to students. It offers a variety of built-in assessment tools, as well as an opportunity to integrate external tools to customize the course experience.

Google Sites
Google Sites allows you to create a simple personal website, wiki, or project site without any prior programming or design skills.  With an intuitive drag and drop interface, you can work alone or collaborate with others to build your website in a short amount of time. Sites is fully integrated with Google Drive, and can be created from the Sites homepage (link is external) or within Drive (link is external).

GitHub Pages
GitHub Pages is a static site hosting service designed to host your personal, organization, or project pages directly from a GitHub repository.

Open Computing Facility
The Open Computing Facility is an all-volunteer, student-run, student-initiated service group that offers free webspace among other services.

Econometrics Lab
Econ faculty who have an EML account can create and manage course pages on the EML web server. You can transfer your HTML files into a user-specific directory, /accounts/web/public/username, on the EML. You can view your site at the address: http://eml.berkeley.edu/~username.

If you are creating and maintaining your own course page(s), please send your URLs to rowilma@econ.berkeley.edu when your pages are up and available for viewing at the start of each semester. We maintain a departmental course page registry on which all of our course URLs are listed for easy reference.

Faculty Home Pages

Faculty are welcome to maintain a personal home page similarly to that described above for course home pages using Google Sites, Github and Econometricsl Lab. If you would like your faculty homepage hosted on the Econometrics Lab web server and would like a template, please contact rowilma@econ.berkeley.edu.
