Department of Economics - Summer Grant
Summer Grant applications 2024 (APPLICATION CLOSED)
- Award: The Summer Grant will consist of $500-$3,500+* in stipend. It is intended for students in financial need and/or primarily working on their job market paper.
- Application procedures: To apply, simply submit this google form and complete the form linked, then include a statement of either financial need or whether you are devoting yourself mostly to the job market paper and submit to this google form. Awards will be distributed randomly among those students that qualify.
- Deadline: May 2nd at 12pm (noon), this is a firm deadline.
- Award decisions will be announced by May 17, 2024.
*Final stipend amount may differ depending on funding available.
Burch Center Continuing Student Fellowship
Applications accepted until April 19, 2024! (APPLICATION CLOSED)
- Award: Stipend, along with tuition and fees.
- Eligibility: Full-time Ph.D. students in Economics that have already passed the oral exams.
- Application Procedures: Submit the following to this form by the application deadline for funding for the following academic year.
- One page abstract of a research proposal OR a proposal of 10 or less pages.
- Letter of recommendation from a faculty member addressed to the Graduate Committee Chair. Usually students approach their dissertation advisor for this.
- Deadline: April 19, 2024, 10:00 am PST
Award decisions will be announced by May 17, 2024.
Stone Center Continuing Fellowships
Applications accepted until April 19, 2024! (APPLICATION CLOSED)
- Award: Stipend, along with tuition and fees.
- Eligibility: Full-time Ph.D. students in Economics that have already passed the oral exams and are conducting research on inequality. Priority will be given to students who are planning to be on the job market this coming year and who already have preliminary results.
- Application Procedures: Submit the following to this form by the application deadline for funding for the following academic year.
- One (or at most two) page summary proposal describing the research project and why the research can have policy implications. This summary will be publicly posted online for funded students.
- Include preliminary draft or results of the research project if already available and link to webpage with posted papers (if available).
- Include CV indicating expected PhD completion date (or link to webpage with such CV information)
- Letter of recommendation from the dissertation advisor. A short letter or email from the advisor to Janene Vernard including expected ranking of the student in the program for placement purposes is sufficient.
- Other sources of funding currently available or pending for the coming academic year.
- Deadline: April 19, 2024, 10:00 am PST
Award decisions will be announced by May 17, 2024.
