Admissions

New admissions to the graduate program are restricted to students pursuing the Ph.D. degree. There is no external, terminal program for the M.A. degree; only students enrolled at Boalt School of Law or in other doctoral programs at Berkeley may enroll for an M.A. degree in economics if approval is given by both departments.

The on-line application is available each application cycle beginning on Tuesday, September 6th from the Graduate Division Home Page. This direct link to the Graduate Admissions Page has information on applying to Berkeley. This is the direct link to the Graduate Application on-line form. The application is required for first-time applicants, reactivation of an application submitted within the last two years, and current UC Berkeley Graduate Students seeking a change of major or readmission in the university and a new program.

Fall 2012 Application Deadlines

The online application and supporting documentation are due Wednesday, December 7th and will not be accepted after the deadline for any reason.

Late and incomplete applications will not be considered after the December 7, 2011 deadline.

Due to the volume of applications we have received, we will not be able to verify individual application materials until after January 20, 2012. Thank you.
